Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our exterior cleaning services across Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

About Raw Power

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry full public liability insurance on every job. Details are available on request.

Do I need to be home during the clean?

Not necessarily. We need access to the area being cleaned and an outdoor water supply. For most jobs you don't need to be present. We confirm the details when we book and will let you know if your specific job requires someone on site.

Do you need access to a water supply?

Yes, we need access to an outdoor tap. If you don't have one, let us know when you get in touch and we'll discuss options.

Do you work in winter?

Yes, we work year-round subject to safe weather conditions. We won't work at height in high winds or on icy surfaces. If weather conditions require us to reschedule, we'll let you know as early as possible.

Can you clean commercial properties?

Yes. We work with commercial clients across Kent, Sussex and Surrey as well as residential homeowners and landlords. The same fixed-price, fully-insured service applies. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Do you offer a guarantee?

We stand behind our work. If you're not satisfied with the result, let us know and we'll return to address it. We don't walk away from a job until you're happy, and we don't ask for payment until the work is done.

Pricing & Quotes

How do I get a quote?

Call us on 07511 635545 or use the contact form and we'll get back to you promptly. Quotes are fixed prices with no obligation. We assess the job properly before we give you a number, and we don't change it on the day.

Do I pay upfront?

No. We don't ask for any payment upfront. Payment is due on completion, once you're satisfied with the work. No exceptions.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. The price we quote is the price you pay. We don't add extras on the day or charge for unforeseen time. If the scope of the job changes significantly from what we discussed, we'll talk to you first. We won't just bill more.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept card payment, bank transfer, and cash on completion. We'll confirm the details when we book.

Roof Cleaning

Is roof cleaning safe for my tiles?

Yes. We use low-pressure soft washing for roof tiles, not high-pressure equipment. High pressure can crack tiles or strip granules from felted surfaces. Our soft-wash method is safe, effective, and industry-recommended.

What's the difference between soft washing and pressure washing a roof?

Soft washing uses low water pressure combined with specialist biocide and cleaning solutions to kill and lift organic growth. Pressure washing blasts with high-pressure water alone. For roofs, soft washing is the correct method. It removes moss, algae and lichen without the risk of cracking tiles, lifting ridge mortar, or forcing water under the surface.

How long before moss comes back after roof cleaning?

With our biocide treatment, most roofs remain clear for three to five years, sometimes longer. Shaded roofs, north-facing slopes, and properties near woodland (common in areas like Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and the Surrey Hills) may see growth return sooner than open-aspect roofs.

What types of roof can you clean?

We clean concrete tiles, clay tiles, slate, and most pitched roof types. We also treat flat roofs, GRP fibreglass, and rubber membrane roofs where appropriate. If you're unsure whether your roof type is suitable, just ask and we'll tell you honestly.

Will roof cleaning affect my moss and algae coming back more slowly?

Yes. Biocide treatment after cleaning kills growth at root level rather than simply washing it off the surface. This is the key difference between a professional clean and a DIY wash. The biocide prevents regrowth for years rather than weeks.

Driveways & Patios

How long does driveway cleaning take?

Most domestic driveways take between two and four hours depending on size and condition. We'll give you a realistic estimate when we quote.

How often should I have my driveway cleaned?

For most South East properties, once every two to three years is sufficient when combined with a post-clean biocide treatment. Properties with significant tree cover or shade (where surfaces stay damp) may benefit from annual attention.

Can you re-sand block paving joints after cleaning?

Yes. Block paving joints are checked during the clean and re-sanded where required. This is included as standard, not an extra.

Will pressure washing damage my driveway?

No, provided the right pressure is used for the surface type. We assess every driveway before starting and adjust our equipment accordingly. Softer surfaces like some block paving and natural stone are treated at lower pressures where appropriate.

Gutters & Fascias

How often should gutters be cleared?

For most South East properties, once a year is the minimum, ideally late autumn after leaf fall. Properties surrounded by trees (common in Sevenoaks, Horsham, the Surrey Hills and the Kent Weald) should consider twice yearly.

How long does gutter cleaning take?

Most semi-detached and detached properties take one to two hours. We flush the gutters through and confirm the downpipes are clear before we leave.

Why are my gutters overflowing if they were cleaned recently?

If gutters are overflowing shortly after a clean, the most common cause is a blocked or crushed downpipe. We check downpipes as part of our clear, but if you've had work done since, or if there's a sagging section causing pooling, we'd want to inspect it. Give us a call and we'll take a look.

Window Cleaning

Do you clean the inside of windows?

Our standard window clean covers the outside face of the glass. Interior cleaning can be arranged. Let us know when you get in touch and we'll confirm what's included.

How often should windows be cleaned professionally?

For most homes, every six to eight weeks is enough to keep windows consistently clean. Properties near the coast (salt spray) or with significant tree cover may need more frequent cleaning. We're happy to discuss a regular arrangement if that works for you.

Can you clean windows on tall properties?

Yes. We work on properties of multiple storeys using appropriate equipment. If you have a particularly tall or unusual property, mention it when you contact us so we can confirm the right approach.

Areas Covered

What areas do you cover?

We cover Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey, including Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury, Folkestone, Ashford, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Sittingbourne, Faversham, Medway, Gravesend, Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton and Hove, Crawley, Horsham, Worthing, Burgess Hill, Guildford, Reigate, Redhill, Dorking, Godalming and surrounding towns. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, just call us.

Do you work on coastal properties?

Yes. We work regularly on properties along the Kent and Sussex coast, from Folkestone, Dover and Deal to Eastbourne, Brighton and Worthing. Coastal properties face particular challenges. Salt air accelerates dirt build-up on windows and surfaces, and can compound damage from moss and lichen on roof tiles. We're familiar with these conditions and adjust our methods accordingly.

Do you cover rural properties and villages?

Yes. A significant part of our work is in rural Kent, Sussex and Surrey, covering villages and rural properties in areas like the Kent Weald, the Surrey Hills, the High Weald AONB, and the South Downs. Rural properties often have heavier biological growth due to shade and damp conditions, and we're experienced in working in areas with limited road access.
