Driveways & Patios
We restore driveways and patios to their original condition using professional-grade pressure washing and specialist cleaning solutions. No scrubbing required on your part.
See DetailsMoss, lichen and algae damage tiles from the inside out. We remove them safely using soft-wash techniques, the approach recommended by roofing professionals across the UK.
The Service
We safely remove moss, lichen, and algae from roof tiles using low-pressure soft washing, protecting your tiles while eliminating the organic growth that causes long-term damage.
Most homeowners do not look at their roof until something goes wrong. By the time moss is visible from the ground, it has usually been established for several years. The moss itself is the obvious sign, but the real damage is what happens underneath. Moss and lichen root structures penetrate porous tiles, retaining moisture and accelerating the freeze-thaw damage that cracks and weakens tiles from the inside. Every heavily mossy roof we have cleaned across the South East has had some degree of tile deterioration underneath. The moss is the visible sign; the tile damage is the expensive one.
We use a soft-wash system, not high-pressure washing. High pressure can crack tiles, strip granules from felt, and dislodge mortar from ridge tiles. These are not theoretical risks. We see the results of pressure washing done wrong with some regularity, and it can cause more damage than the moss itself. Our low-pressure system, combined with specialist biocide treatments, kills organic growth at the root and removes it without any risk to the tile surface or the roof structure.
Low-pressure soft wash for concrete tiles, clay tiles, and slate. Never high pressure on your roof. No cracking, stripping, or dislodging.
Kills moss and lichen at root level so regrowth is prevented for years, not just temporarily cleared from the surface.
Most domestic roofs are fully cleaned and treated in a single day. We confirm timing when we quote.
Kent, Sussex, and Surrey covered, including coastal properties where salt air makes organic growth worse and more damaging.
We have cleaned roofs from Brighton to Thanet. Most jobs are completed in a single visit with a residual biocide that keeps moss away for years.
Why It Matters
Tile Damage from the Inside
Moss and lichen root structures penetrate porous tiles, weakening them through freeze-thaw cycles long before any visible failure from the ground. By the time a roof looks bad, tiles are often already compromised.
Accelerated by Local Conditions
Coastal salt air and woodland shade, common across Kent, Sussex, and Surrey, cause moss growth to return far faster here than in other parts of the country. North-facing slopes are worst affected.
Regrowth After Pressure Washing
A pressure-washed roof without biocide will regrow within 12 to 18 months. The root structures were not killed, just temporarily cleared. Biocide treatment is what makes results last for years.
"The roof looks brand new. Honestly couldn't believe the difference. James did a great job at a great price. Would definitely recommend to anyone in a similar situation."
How We Work
We inspect from ground level and, where safe and necessary, from a working platform. We assess growth extent, tile condition, ridge mortar, and any areas of concern.
What this means for you: You know what we found and what we are going to do before we pick up any equipment. No surprises.
We apply a specialist biocide treatment across the entire roof surface to kill moss, lichen, and algae at root level. On heavily grown roofs, we allow dwell time before the main clean begins.
What this means for you: The moss and lichen are killed at the root, not just cleared from the surface, which is why results last years, not months.
Using low-pressure equipment, we work systematically from ridge to eave. No high-pressure equipment is used on tiles at any point.
What this means for you: Your tiles are cleaned thoroughly without any risk of cracking, stripping, or dislodging anything.
All loose moss and debris is cleared from the roof surface. Gutters are cleared of debris where accessible. We leave the roof and surrounding area tidy.
What this means for you: The roof and surrounding area are left clean and tidy. No debris in your garden, gutters, or driveway.
FAQs
The questions we hear most often, answered honestly.
Yes. Soft washing uses low pressure to clean tiles without risk of cracking, stripping, or dislodging anything. We use the same method for concrete tiles, clay tiles, and slate. It is the approach recommended by the NHBC and most roofing manufacturers, not high-pressure washing.
Most domestic properties take a full day. Larger properties or heavily grown roofs may need a second visit. We confirm timing when we quote, so you know what to expect.
With our biocide treatment, most roofs remain clear for three to five years, sometimes longer. Results depend on the roof's aspect, local tree cover, and proximity to the coast. North-facing or heavily shaded roofs will see growth return sooner than open-aspect roofs.
Yes. The biocide treatment kills lichen at root level. Very heavy lichen growth may take longer to fully clear, as the dead material takes time to weather off. We will tell you honestly what to expect based on what we see when we quote.
Not necessarily. We need access to a water supply and the property boundary. You do not need to be present for the work itself. We confirm access arrangements when we book.
